Royalty May Attend Melbourne Cup
(Received 2 p.m.) LONDON, January 9. In response to requests from Australia, the Duke and Duchess of Kent are endeavouring to rearrange their plans to enable their arrival in time for the Melbourne Cup. It is almost certain that the Duke and Duchess will go to New Zealand for the Centenary. It is announced on the Duke’s behalf that he feels he should go to Canberra for the swearing-in ceremony immediately he arrives, after which he will formally visit Melbdurne and Sydney before settling down to routine work.
