Second Test Commences
CAPETOWN, December 31. Rain delayed the start of the second test cricket match between England and South Africa today imtil 5.30 p.m. The wicket, which had been covered, was true, but the outfield was slow after the rain. Only a small attendance witnessed the play. Hammond, winning the toss, decided to bat, and at stumps England had lost two wickets for 131. Langton’s accurate length worried Hutton who fell to an off-break from Gordon in the last-named’s first over. P.aynter was beaten by one of Langton’s breaks, and Gibb had a lucky escape from being run out with his score at 25. The personnel of the English side is as follows: Hutton, Gibb, Paynter,
