Pawnbroker’s False Move
(Received 10 a.m.) VIENNA, December 17.
One of the most prominent pawnbrokers in Vienna, named Gerhold, recently donated £IO,OOO to the Nazis’ fund. Herr Buerckel, Reich Commissioner in Ostmark (Austria), regarded this as a bribe, and had Gerhold arrested. He then distributed the money among 5000 of the city's destitute people.
