A new preferential German Czech Customs tariff has been announced. Details have not been revealed, but it is believed that it will link Czechoslovakia very closely with the German economic system.

The Hungarian Foreign Minister informed the' Czech Minister that Hungary was ready to resume friendly relations, on account of which press and radio attacks against the Czechs were ceasing.

Delegates representing 21 American Governments, in conference at Lima, last evening' unanimously adopted a resolution inspired by Washington denouncing Excessive trade barriers. The Italian Cabinet has issued a decree that Jews must declare their property, real estate and buildings, to the Government, after which any amount in excess of £2OOO in the country, and £3300 in the towns, will be expertly assessed, and handed over to a State organisation, which will run the property, the Jews receiving 4 per cent, bonds.

It is decreed by the Italian Cabinet that four Libyan provinces will form an integral part of Italy. Libyan Moslems receiving special Italian citizenship.

A resident of Paignton. England, Mr J. O. Artin is celebrating his 2nd silver wedding. He was married first in 1884 to a woman who died in 1911. Ho married again in 1913. He celebrated the second occasion with wine bottled in Queen Victoria’s Jubilee year.

A bronze bust of the late Viscount Snowden was unveiled in the British (Treasury office, when Earl Baldwin emphasised the integrity and courage, both visible and moral, of the former Chancellor of the Exchequer. Herr Gailius, Governor of Memel, who was ,a German officer in the Great War, has opened negotiations with the leaders of the German party, and it is considered only a question of weeks before the cry “back to the Reich” is raised again,, says the Berlin correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph”. Meanwhile the Nazi regime is openly being established. Memel’s 6,000 Jews will be the first victims.

As a protest against the facts that no employment is available to students at the agricultural college ,at Cairo after having completed their studies, 600 of them rioted yesterday. Twelve were arrested, when trying to force their way into the Ministry of Commerce. Later the remainder, with a hail of stones, repelled the police who were attempting to discipline the college.

The Italian cabinet has issued a decree making it compulsory for banks, financial institutions and insurance companies to hand over a proportion of their capital to supply funds for self-sufficiency undertakings. Also, it has decreed that big banks shall close 100 branches. Already 700 have been closed since the opening of the banking reform campaign.
