League Of Mothers Entertains Fathers

Novelty, and high good humour, were the guiding lights of the annual “Fathers’ Night” given by the Whangarei branch of the League of Mothers, in the Presbyterian Hail last evening. About'so thoroughly enjoyed a unique programme. Many of the games and competitions were new to Whangarei people, and evoked much interest and laughter. Vocal items were given by Mrs Fry and Messrs H. B. Massey, W. J. Dawson and E. Timewell. Mr Massey was the accompanist. and also led community singing. After a savoury supper, the president, Mrs Inkster, explained the objects of the league and, in a humorous speech, proposed the toast of the fathers, which was responded to by His Worship the Mayor, Mr W. Jones. So loth were the guests to leave that extra verses of “Auld Lang Syne” were sung in hearty voice at the close.
