Mander Park Tennis Opening

The opening of the Mander Park Tennis Club took place on Saturday afternoon last when a large number of visitors and members took part in ,a progressive tournament. The play was the first since the courts have been relayed and it was generally agreed that they promised well. The president of the club, Mr F. W. Primmer, welcomed all to the opening and said he was gratified to see such a large number of visitors from I other clubs. Ho fell sure that, with ! the new courts, the club should have I a most successful season. Thanks j were extended to those members who [ had so willingly given much of their | time to the preparation of the courts, Mrs Primmer officially opened /the season by serving the first ball. Mr Hayr. president of the North Auckland Lawn Tennis Association, wished the club every success and briefly outlined the association's plans .for the coming season.

The trophies for the tournament were won by Miss Wilson and Mr L. Cameron.
