Further Rugby Fixtures Arranged

Next Saturday Onerahi thirds will be playing a Dargaville Rugby team and on the following Saturday Old Boys juniors will be playing Manukau Rovers (Auckland! intermediate team at Whangarei.

These fixtures were finalised at a ■ meeting ef the management commit- I tee of the Whangarei Rugby Union 1 last night. Other fixtures for Salur- I day include the final Brake Shield i match, when Whangarei juniors (hold- j ersi play Mangonux’, and the final of; the senior B subsidiai’y competition, j Pipiwai versus Counti’y United. On the following Saturday the final North Auckland representative match against Waikato will be played at Whangax’ei, The manager for the junior representative team will be Mr M. Snow, and for the fifth grade representatives who will bo playing Kamo fourths. Mr L. Garry. Hora Hora Win Fifth Grade. Flora Hora were declared the winners of the fifth grade competition, gnd this loam is to be congratulated on its success. This competition produced very even play, as, when the rounds were completed, three teams were running even, Hora Hora, Maunu and High School A, After a play-off, Maunu and Hora Hora were still even. The union, realising the necessity for footballers to keep fit right through the yeax*, has agx-eed to the grounds being used in summer by s athletic club members. It is pi-oposed by the union to undertake very extensive improvements to the grounds during the coming months, work to commence immediately, so that next season the grounds in Rugby Pai'k should be in far better playing condition than has been the position in previous seasons. Brake Shield Team. The following have been selected to represent Whangarei in the Brake Shield match: —Full-back, J. Beasley (Onerahi); three-quartex\s, Barber (City), P. Wilson (Old Boys), P. Leech (Waikiekie), Miller (one to be omitted); five-eighths, Pamplin. (Waikiekie). J. Leech (Waikiekie), X. Boyd (one to be omitted); half-back, Sullivan (City); forwards, Jones (City), Haigh, Symes (Old Boys), P. Russek, B. Russek (Waikiekie), Provan, Livingstone, Boyd (Hora Hora), Procter (Hikui'angi), A. Joass (Onerahi), (two To be omitted).
