Fire At Kawakawa
[Special to “Northern Advocate. I '] KAWAKAWA, This Day. Mr W. D. Knight, secretary of the Bay of Islands Herd Testing Association, who resides at Kawakaw.a, on waking at 2 o’clock on Saturday morning, found his house burning fiercely. Making his escape through a window after collecting some clothing, Mr Knight gave the alarm, but as a strong easterly gale was blowing, the building quickly became a blazing mass. The brigade concentrated on saving the premises next door. The house which was destroyed belonged to Mr J. F. Wall. None of the furniture, which belonged to Mr Knight, and was practically new, was saved. The house .and furniture were both insured, but Mr Wall and Mr Knight are heavy losers. Mrs Knight and two children were away on holiday at the time.
