Schuschnigg’s Plight
(Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, August 29. The former Austrian Chancellor, Dr. Schuschnigg, who is being held prisoner by the Nazis, accidentally heard the news of his forthcoming trial from his wife during one of her infrequent short visits under guard, says the Vienna corresponednt of the “Daily Telegraph.”
Frau Schuchnigg assumed that her husband was aware of the trial and made passing reference to it. He was greatly distressed. The correspondent adds that public opinion in Austria is by no means unanimous in condemning Dr. Schuschnigg.
