Messrs C. R. Lovatt and J. D. Mitchell were last night appointed North Auckland Forest Society representatives to attend the Northland conference at Kaikohe on Thursday. Mr A. D. King, for some time president of the Mairtown Tennis Club, was last night elected a life member at the 'annual general meeting of the club. ,
It is announced that Mr. H. Reynolds Bach, at present borough engineer at Onehunga, has been appointed engineer to the Lower Hutt Borough Council. There were 36 applications, including one from England. The council narrowel these down to four, three of whom wer.e from Wellington.
Mr J. W. Heenan, Under-Secretary of Internal Affairs, and executive officer of the New Zealand Centennial, Mr A. W. Mulligan, general secretary of the Centennial Branch of the Department of Internal Affairs, and Mr K. L. Usmar, one of the joint secretaries of the Auckland Provincial Centennial Council, will arrive in Whangarei tomorrow and will confer with members of the Northland Centennial Committee here before proceeding to Kaikohe to take part in the conference to be held there at 11 o clock on Thursday morning.
