Lord Stanley, Secretary of State for the Dominions, who sent greetings to all parts of the Empire when opening the Canadian National Exhibition at Toronto, Canada, and who expressed the belief that if a call came to the younger Britons to serve the Empire the response would be as ready as in the case of older geneerations. Born in 1894, he was educated at Eton and Magāaīen. He served in the Great War and has filled important under-secretaryships.
