Mangonui’s Proud Record
The Mangonui schoolboy team which won the series of matches played in the primary schools’ Rugby tournament this week, is representative of the most northerly schools in New Zealand. It is the first representative school team that has ever left the county. The side went through the tournament undefeated. During the whole tournament, Mangonui had its line crossed only once. For the week’s play it scored 55 points, 16 tries contributing to the total, there being only one penalty kick.
Mangonui has the unique record of furnishing six representatives to travel to Auckland with the Northland schoolboy team to play for the Northern Roller Mills’ Shield. Waiotira Miss E. Hilford is staying at Ohaeawai as the guest of Mrs M. Edwards, late of Waiotira. Miss Newey, assistant teacher at Waiotira, is away for the school holidays. Mrs Cubitt is staying at Waihi, as the guest of her daughter, Mrs Moralee. Mrs Worthington and son, who have been enjoying a prolonged holiday in the district, have left for Morrinsvillo,
