State House Building Goes Ahead
State house building is going on apace in Whangarei, the only handicap to more rapid progress being the lack of sufficient skilled tradesmen. All of the original 12 units allocated in Bobbie’s sub-division are now occupied. Another four houses in this area should be completed for occupation within the next six weeks. It is fully anticipated that the 31 units in the sub-division will be available for tenants at the latest by Christmas! time. Whether or not this can be done, however, depends to a great extent on the ability of the contractors to overcome the .acute skilled labour shortage. . As scon as the Bobbie's sub-division houses are completed, work will commence on the Ratcliffe Street and the Cairnfield Hoad sections.
