Local Farmers Receive £75,000
Dairy company suppliers in. the Whangarei district wil receive a payout this month of. approximately £75,000, in addition to the ordinary July payments.
Suppliers to the Whangarei Dairy Company, Limited, will share in the distribution of £BI,OOO as deferred payment for the past season and the Government bonus. They will also receive payment for July butterfat supply.
Hikurangi Dairy Company suppliers will receive approximately £BOOO, as the Government bonus. This company paid out last season’s deferred amount in July.
At Waipu the Government bonus with the deferred payment was paid out last month. This month’s payout will therefore be confined to the July supplies. The Maungatapere Dairy Company will make its ordinary July payment as well as the Government bonus. Production Down, All four companies report decreased production during July, as compared with July last year, this being attributed to the wet, cold winter following a mild early winter. Whangarei’s production was reduced from 43 tens 19 cwt. in July last year to 37 tons 15 cwt. in July this year; Hikurangi from 29 tons 8 cwt. to 25 tons 11 cwt; Waipu, from 10 tons to 8£ tons; and Maungatapere from 23 tons to 20 tons.
Feed is coming forward well in most areas and it is expected the August production will be well up on that recorded in August last year.
