New Band Room Desired
Unfavourable comment on the room being used for band practice was made by the immediate-past president of the Whangarei Municipal Band. Mr J. C. Reynolds, in his report to the annual meeting of the band last night. "The band room used by both bands lias, is my opinion, little to commend it, except, perhaps, its cheap rent. During the year, two of the committee were generous enough to donate enough paint to renovate the room inside. This, the committee thought, was a step in the right direction, having in mind the fact that a more congenial room might be conducive to belter attendances.
"The committee recorded its appreciation of the offer, and duly passed it on to the band, but so far no move has been made to avail themselves of the offer. Personally, I think it is a pity, seeing that finances are so low, and the prospects far from encouraging. that a small energetic coipmittee of bandsmen did not take the matter in hand and try to make the playing quarters a more inviting place in which bandsmen would be pleased and proud to assemble.”
