Shortly alter it had landed at Now Plymouth airport from Wellington, a Royal Now Zealand Air force Jiailia bombing aeroplane was lurried over on its back. The plane was caught by a violent gust of wind. Both wing tips were damaged, and the machine will have to be dismantled and taken to the Hobson villa Air Base for repairs. The pilot, Squadron-Leader Grundy, was not injured.
Owing to head-winds up to (50 miles an hour being encountered south of New Plymouth, the north-bound Union Airways air liner decided to turn back to Palmerston North yesterday morning. The machine carried four passengers and a quantity of mail for Auckland. The aeroplane remained at Palmerston North for the night. The mail was transferred to the Limited express, reaching Auckland this morning.
