Mr Jack McAneney
[Special to “Northern Advocate.”'} DARGAVILLE, This Day.
The death has occurred of Mr Jack McAneney, aged 76. Mr McAneney | spent his early years at Thames, | where he ultimately became a jockey, f He came to the Northern Wairoa in I 1879 and rode the first cup winner on T the old Mangawhare race course. • Later Mr McAneney established a | carrying business with packhorses at | Tangowahine. He was one of the ? original contractors for the Northern i Wairoa Co-operative Dairy Company, J following this occupation for 34 years ? until his retirement two yeai's ago. f He is survived by his wife three sons | and three daughters. i
