Mr C. Ford has been appointed president of the Whangarei Municipal Band. Mr Ford was for some years president of the Waihi band before coming to Whangarei. The Auckland Presbytery last night elected the Rev. R. Ferguson Fish moderator in succession to the Rev. R. N. Alley. Mr Fish will occupy the position for six months. The death has occurred of Mr William Lewis Luxford, aged 84 years, o I Auckland. Mr Luxford leaves four sons and two daughters, one son being Mr J. H. Luxford, S.M., at present relieving in Auckland, and formerly of Whangarei.
At the meeting of the Whangarei Rugby Union last night, a motion of sympathy was accorded Mr H. Thomas, Senior B selector, in the loss of his son, who was a member of the Manaia team.
