The Right Hon. G. W. Forbes, who in the absence of the Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. Adam Hamilton, took the initiative in a discussion in Parliament relative to the Scrimgeour sensation. Mr Forbes, who was horn at Lyttelton in 1869, drew a section in the first Cheviot land ballot in 1893, and has farmed his property successfully ever since. He entered Parliament in 1902, and has sat continuously, occupying prominent posts, including that of Prime Minister. He took charge as head of the Coalition Government in 1931.
