Somerset Capitulate

(Received 8.30 a.m.) LONDON, July 29. At the end of the second day’s play in the cricket match, Australia v. Somerset, at Taunton, the county was left with 235 runs to make in order to save an innings defeat and only four wickets in hand. The side,was out today for 136, and the visitors won by an innings and 218 runs. At it happened, Somerset’s fate was se.aled within 25 minutes of the resumption of play, when the remaining’batsmen were air out. Andrews was caught at the wicket from Fleetwood Smith, whose accurate spinning was deadly. He had Wellard floundering, then out l.b.w. ‘Next over Fleetwood Smith knocked out Barnwell’s leg stump and Luckes played on to his wicket. The tailenders found Fleetwood Smith unplayable.
