After a most enjoyable cruise of the South Sea Islands, Mr and Mrs S. J. Weston have returned, to Whangarei. On the cruise also were Mr and Mrs L. A. Johnson, who are returning to Whangarei today. The death has occurred at Waitara of Mrs Budden, widow of the late Mr Benjamin Budden, one of the pioneer settlers in the Oifeorohonga district, at the age of 80 years. She is survived by four sons and four daughters, one of whom is Mrs McDell, of Whangarei. For two and a-half years on the staff of the Bank of Australasia, Whangarei, Mr Gordon Palairet is exchanging positions next week with Mr A. W. Hay, of the Kaitaia office. Mr Palairet has been a popular member of the Whau Valley Golf Club and Old Boys’ Cricket Club. He is also a talented performer in amateur theatricals.
Mr. D. Holderness, superintendent and engineer of the Auckland Harbour Board, has been appointed representative of the Whangarei Harbour Board at the annual general meeting of New Zealand Harbour Boards’ Union of Employers.
