Mrs Bispham’s Birthday Honoured
rn n very nappy sprrii, the birthday ol Mrs Bispham was celebrated last Saturday afternoon in the Parochial Hall at a party organised by her many friends. About 50 or more gathered to honour the occasion. The time was pleasantly passca with community ranging, solos by Mrs Marsden Woods and Mrs Stevenson, elocutionary items by Mrs Griffin, and .a pianoforte solo by Miss Moody. Accompaniments were played by Mrs Blanshard and Mrs G. Woolley. During the afternoon. Mrs H. T. Steele, on behalf of those present, asked Mrs Bispham’s acceptance of an appropriate gift—a dressing gown and. slippers—with very best wishes for her birthday. Mrs Bispham replied in a delightful speech. During the afternoon a dainty tea was served, and Auld Lang Syne brought an occasion—a happy one for both organisers and guest of honour—to a close. The ladies of tne vVliangarei Croquet Club conducted a pleasant function on Tuesday evening, when a battle bridge tournament was held in the pavilion. Eight tables were occupied, and at the conclusion cf play the president, Mrs Fairley, presented the prizes to the winners, Mesdames Munn, J. Reynolds and A. Sargent, and Mr W. Vaughan.
