“Margaret” Survivors' Happy Birthday Party

Sole survivor of those who sailed from Nova Scotia in the “Margaret." Mrs. Alec Mclnnes. was entertained at her home, Kauri, yesterday afternoon, on the occasion of her 87th birthday. In song and story honour was done to the pioneers and in particular to Mrs. Mclnnes, most worthy representative of that courageous band. The guest was the recipient of congratulations,! warm good wishes and : many acceptable presents. A truly national air. and one that was greatly appreciated by the guest of the day. was added to the jolly party when Captain Suart and Mrs. Dunlop sang Gaelic songs, all joining in the choruses. The toast of the guest was proposed by her sister-in-law. Mrs. Murdoch Mclnnes, of Kamo, and responded to happily by Mrs. Mclnnes, in high spirits and much recovered after her recent illness. A feature was the cutting of a large and handsomely decorated birthday cake, made and presented by Mrs. I. M. McLeod. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Stuart. Mr. and Mrs. Billington, Miss Heather Stuart and Meadamcs Vivian Carter. F. Clotworthy, Ross. Dunlop. Murdoch Mclnnes, A. McDonald, Norman Ellis. F. McPhee.
