Measles In Cook Islands
[Per Press Association. Copyright. 1 WELLINGTON, This Day. Since Die beginning of the month over 200 cases of measles have been reported in the Cook Islands. According to the Rarotonga correspondent of the United Press Association the outbreak is believed to be the first in the group since 1894. To prevent the disease spreading all schools and churches and the cinema theatre have been closed, while all gatherings have been suspended. The first case of measles was diagnosed at Awarua, Rarotonga, on July 2 and 11, and new cases were reported on the next day. To date one case' has been found at Manihiki Island, and ten cases at Penrhyn Island.
