A very pretty wedding was solemnised at the Presbyterian Church, Wha- | ngarni, on June 23, when Eileen Annie, j only daughter of Mr and Mrs T. | Neale, of Mama, was married to j Frank, third son of Mr and Mrs S, S, ! Hawkins, of Whau Valley. The Rev. Mr Brierlcy officiated .at the ceremony, and Mr A. Dobson presided at j the organ. j The church had been tastefully j decorated by friends of the bride, ! with white camelias. arum lilies, j lycopodium and smilax, festoons of ( satin ribbon completing a charming j effect. ! The bride, who entered the church j on the ,arm of her father, wore a | beautful gown of ivory angelskin [ lace, cut on slimming lines, falling in a flare and ending in a graceful train finished with sprays of orange-blos-soms. The gown was designed with cowl neck-line, the long and tight- j fitting sleeves finishing in points over the hands and being fastened tiny buttons and loops to the elbow. | The bride's veil of embroidered tulle hung from a coronet of orange-blos-som, and she carried a sheaf of | Christmas lilies and maidenhair fern, j In attendance ,as chief bridesmaids i were Misses Lilian Ventry-Smith and ! They were accompanied by Misses Valerie Bush and Ruby Collinsou, wearing cyclamen lace over pink stiffened net and satin. All wore gauntlet gloves of lace, matching their frocks, and carried sheafs of {lowers to tone. An .added effect was given by the cluster of I shaded pink roses, which completed the coiffure of each. Also in attendance as train-bearers were little Patricia Woods and Jean J McDonald, who appeared charming in j drosses of rainbow stiffened net over pink satin, trimmed with rose velvet ribbon, Each wove a head-band of pink and blue flowers. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Ivan Neale ,as best man. while Messrs Jack Hawkins, lan Woods and Sydney Collinson were groomsmen. Acting as ushers were Messrs W. N. Hawkins and L. Lowe. After the ceremony a reception was' held in the spacious dining-room of the Whangarei Hotel, which was decorated with palms, ferns and blue and cyclamen flowers. Suspended over the chairs of the bride and bridegroom was a beautiful white floral bell. The bride’s mother received the' 100 guests wearing a winecorded and lace ensemble, a skunk stole, and a picture hat to tone. She carried a bouquet of roses in autumn shades. The bridegroom’s mother chose a navy costume with navy accessories. Dominating the wedding repast was a handsome three-tiered c.ake. The reception was followed by a dance in the evening, when Mr and Mrs Neale entertained 300 guests in the Marua Hall. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mr and Mrs D. Mclnnes. Among the many gifts received by the bride were a handsome wristlet watch, the present of the bridegroom, a natural musquash coat from her mother and a cheque from her father. When the couple left for an extended motor tour of the North Island, the bride’s travelling costume was a n.avy costume and hat, with skunk stole.
