Well-Known Yacht To Visit Whangarei
The 59-ft. yawl yacht Land's End, now visiting Auckland in the course of her world cruise, is to be seen in Whangarei in a little more than a week’s lime. At a meeting of the Whangarei Cruising Club this week. Mr V. Harrison reported upon a recent visit to the city, when tie had called upon Mill. Jeffries, the owner of the craft, and horn him hod received an assurance that he would be coming to Whangarei on Tuesday, August 8. Mr Jeffries said lie would leave Auckland on Tuesday morning, and would expect to berth at the Town Wharf that evening. It is Mr Jeffries’ intention to remain in Whangarei for another day before, leaving for Russell en route to the Islands. While in Whangarei Mr Jeffries will screen a 3000-ft. film of that part of the tour of the Land’s End to date. The film, which has only been shown once in New Zealand, namely before the Royal Yacht Squadron at Auckland. will be exhibited in Whangarei for the benefit of the Cruising Club, and an announcement in this respect will appear later. The Land’s End is a beautifully appointed craft, and its visit to Whangarei will be attended with considerable interest. Mr D. Baker, a member of the Cruising Club, is to join its crew.
