New 42-Foot Launch On The Way
Scheduled to take the water in time for the summer boating season, Mr Alt'. Walker’s new launch, under construction by Mr John Ewon. of Oncrahi. promises to be among Whangarevs best. With an over-all length of 42 feet and a beam of 11 feet six inches, this twin-screw motor launch will have every latest device included in its architecture. Mr Walker has every confidence that the launch will be able to sail any sea and travel anywhere with the best of boats. Heart kauri planking, l\ inches thick, is being used in the construction of the vessel, while the ribs are of black birch. As yet, Mr Walker has not decided on the engines he will use, but it is probable that he will instal the Diesel type. , The vessel will be used solely for pleasure purposes, although it is being very heavily built to enable long cruises to bo undertaken under all circumstances. It will rank with the largest locally-owned launches, and will be a decided asset to Whangarei’s already fine array of pleasure craft.
