M EN engaged on a new school site at Denniston, Westland, have decided to cease work as a protest against the action of the Government in reducing their wages. The matter has been taken up by the local union, and referred to Wellington for settlement. * * * dancing at the Pakuranga Hunt Club's ball at Waiuku last night, a well-known resident, Mrs Julia Muir, aged 66, collapsed in her partner’s arms and died soon afterwards. She had waltzed once round the hall. At the special request of three of her daughters and two of her sons, Who were at the ball, the dance was continued.
