Fine Work by Young German Climbers
(Received 1 p.m.) LONDON, July 25. Four young Germans are the first to have climbed the north wall at Mt. Eiger, a 30,000-feet peak in the Bernese Oberland. Twelve climbers have teen killed on the north wall in the last three years. The successful assault, which occupied three days, was made in defiance of a ban by the authorities. The final precipice rises sheer for 3000 feet, and the men clung to ridges over the last 120 feet for five hours in a snowstorm.
