JJORRENTIAL RAINS HAVE POURED DOWN ALONG OVER 1000 MILES OF THE ATLANTIC SEABOARD AND THE GULF STATES, AND AS WEST AS TEXAS, LEAVING AT LEAST EIGHT PERSONS DEAD AND 13 MISSING, AND CAUSING PROPERTY DAMAGE AMOUNTING TO HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. Today was the seventh consecutive day of heavy rain in New York City and its vicinity. Early this morning a cloudburst caused a slide of mud and stones with which a train collided near New York, injuring 15 persons. The water blocked highways throughout the suburbs, and caused heavy damage to crops in New Jersey and Long Island.
