Demonstration Against Judge
[Special to "Northern Advocate.”} MATAMATA, This Day* There was a demonstration' - against the judge, Mr C. H. Washer, after the Te Poi Handicap at Matamata on Saturday. The finish was close, and the official hoisted No. 10 (Raceline) first. No. 1 (Bu Maurier) second, No. G (Philemup) third. The crowd immediately began to demonstrate noisily, and call for No. 3. The judge quickly withdrew Du Manner's number from the frame, and inserted that of Silver Glow (No. 3), in second position. Even this did not appease a section of the crowd, which congregated near the birdcage fence. just below the judge's box. and the demonstration continued for some minutes.
