Butter Exhibit’s Success. The manager of the Maungatapere Co-op. Dairy Co., Ltd., Mr J. Stevenson, last month exhibited butter at the Hamilton Show, with gratifying success, stated the chairman of directors, Mr L. Reynolds, at the annual meeting of suppliers. This initial effort on the company’s part gained fourth prize in the Dominion championship class, and in consideration of the lower average quality of cream during the summer, was quite a creditable performance, Mr Reynolds considered. * * » * Public Trust Office. Estates of a value of £537,681 were reported and accepted for adminstration by the Public Trustee during the month of June, 1938. The total value of the estates and funds under admin--1 istration by the Public Trustee on March 31, 1938, was £60,815,306, and the new business for the three months ended June 30 was £1,391,469. Grants of administration made by the Court in favour of the Public Trustee numbered 143 for the month. During the month 382 new wills appointing the Public Trusteee executor , were prepared on behalf of testators and lodged for safe custody and 326 existing wills were revised to provide for 1 changes desired by testators. The total number of wills now held in the Public Trust Office on behalf of living persons is 91,118. Russell Golf Links. Construction of the new nine-hole golf course in the Kororareka Domain, Russell is proceeding apace. The greens have all been laid out and sown and the fairways haf/e been cleared of rank grass and other rubbish. j Public ’Sforks Camp. j A further batch of men from Auckland arrived in Russell on. Friday, en route to the Public Works camp on the Whangaruru-Rawhlti road, now in course of construction. Nearly 100 men have arrived from Auckland district during the past twelve weeks and there are now about 150 working on the new road, which, it is estimated, will take 18 months to complete. ♦ * * * Hikurangi Bobby Calf Pool. - - Yesterday the petition asking for the creation of a covered area in respect to the operation of a bobby calf pool in the Hikurangi Dairy Coy’s area was forwarded to Wellington, a number of signatures in excess of the stipulated 80 per cent having been obtained The pool will operate as from August 1., While in some instances in the the running of the pools has been delegated to other concerns, the Hikurangi Dairy Coy is undertaking the organisation itself, and a meeting of directors will be held next week to finalise details. * « * * Dargaville Hockey Reps, to Meet Whangarei. With the adoption of the Saturday halfday in Dargaville, men’s hockey has experienced a boom after being dormant for a long time. Evidence of this was given in a letter received by-the Whangarei Hockey Association this week asking if senior and junior matches against a mens’ representative side could be arranged in Whangarei for August 20. Whangarei has. agreed to this date and matches as suggested will be played. It has also been suggested that the Dargaville Ladies’ Challenge match for the Hannam shield' be played in Whangarei on the same day.
