Mangonui
Mrs R. T. Wrathall presided at the monthly meeting of the Mangonui Women’s Institute, held in McKay's Hall. After the business was over a report of the annual federation meeting was read by our delegate, Mrs Stan Harris, after which afternoon tea was served, the hostesses being Mrs R. T. Wrathall and Miss Phoebe Wrathall. Visitors for the day were Mesdames Feisst and Anso. The motto was: “Don't leave till tomorrow what can be done today.'' During the social half-hour a cake competition was held by Mrs H. Wrathall. The roll call, “ITses of old newspapers” brought forth some very good ideas. The monthly competitions were an article from one skein of wool or a dust cap, the winners being as follows: —Mrs Barrett first and Miss Mavis Wrathall second in the knitted section and Mrs Stan Harris first and Mrs R. T. Wrathall second in the sewing section. The winner of the shield for the half year was Mrs R. T. Wrathall with Mrs C. W. Harris second. A new member. Mrs W. Subritsky, was voted in.
