N.Z. Budget Aproved
(Received 8.30 a.m.) LONDON, July 21. The newspapers comment favourably on the New Zealand Budget. “The Times” says: Mr Nash’s opt/f----mistic estimates have again proved justified. New Zealand’s finances thus continue on a satisfactory basis.” The “Financial News” says: “Mr Nash is strictly orthodox, as he always has been. So far, he has been playing on a good wicket. This has recently showed signs of wearing, but does not look to be in danger of breaking up. There is no reason why he should be considered to have bitten off more than he can chew, unless there is a protracted period of low commodity prices.” The “Daily Telegraph” remarks that the figures are satisfactory, and should reassure English bondholders for the increased social services, restoration of cuts and salaries, and substantial improvements in economic conditions have been achieved within a balanced Budget.
