Mangonui Rates To Be Struck
(From Our Own Correspondent). K ALTAI A, This Day. A statement of the estimated receipts and expenditure- for the year 1938-39 was placed before- the Man-, gonui County Council on Wednesday as follows: Receipts: £13,995, including general rates, £8700; licenses fees and tines, £2150; machinery hire. £2000; and Government subsidy, £6OO. Expenditure: £13,995. the main items being: Main highways, £1,800; main roads, £1000; riding roads, £2575; bridges, £500; machinery repairs. benzine, oil, etc., £1880; hospital levy, £3615; salaries (engineering, clerical and traffic), £1350. The chairman gave notice of motion for next meeting that the same rate as for last year be struck, and also that an additional 10 per cent be added to all rates not paid within six months and 14 days from the date in which the rates are due.
