Roosevelt In The News: Murder and Good Will

SANTA ANA (California), July 17. William Bond, aged 60, an ambulance service operator, was arrested this afternoon, when a loaded revolver was found in his pocket after he had insisted on passing through the policelines in order to shake hands with. Mr Roosevelt, while the President was lunching in a public park. He was later released, but the officials term him harmless. He tried to use a Pasadena police sheriff's credentials. Mr Roosevelt finished hie meal unaware of the incident. He is sailing this evening aboard the cruiser Houston for some leisurely fishing off the coast of Mexico and Central America, including, in his trip, the Galapagos and Cocos Isles, after which he will pass through the Panama Canal and return to the United States on August f). Visit To Canada, President Rcosevclt today announc'd that he will pay a “goodwill" visit to Canada, and will meet the GovernorGeneral, Lord Tweedsmuir, at Winnipeg, on August 23.
