Whangarei People Help Spread Of Measles
Further stringent comment upon the lack of public assistance in preventing the spread of measles in the district was made by the District Medical Officer of Health, Dr. C. B. Gilbert!, to a “Northern Advocate’’ representative this morning. “Measles arc still fairly prevalent in and about Whangarei.” remarked Cr. Gilbert!, “but there is nothing of h serious nature. However, the efforts of those concerned in controlling the epidemic are almost negatived by the tact that there is very little public co-operation. “People with measles are still mixing freely with others while still infectious-, and contacts with the disease are also being permitted to mingle unrestrictedly with their fellows, thus facilitating the spread of the trouble.”
