Throughout the .district the past few weeks have seen a succession of cold, bleak days, accompanied by heavy showers of rain. Stock is. in consequence, not coming forward as well as usual, but it is expected that a few bright days will make a big difference in this respect. In anticipation of a fairly early season farmers are indulging in the customary winter "spring-clean" of their dairy equipment. Improvements are taking shape at the school grounds, the first step being the cartage of sand and cement. The programme of work on the grounds should be well in hand before the summer. Personal.
