Many Northland School Buildings
[Special To “Northern Advocate ”J AUCKLAND, This Day. What must rank as the most extensive building programme ever undertaken by an education board in New Zealand is at present in progress in the Auckland province. Six new high school buildings are included, the majority being erected on new sites, while there are 22 new schools. The trend towards consolidation is revealed in the construction of 1 four new buildings to house such schools, while in several districts extensive alterations and additions are being made for the same purpose. ■New infants’ buildings total six and primary departments four, while at thi'ee centres new accommodation for manual training is being provided. A representatives of the Auckland Education Board stated that for a number of years building had been 1 reduced to a minimum and the time 1 had now come when replacement of | existing schools and provision of new i ones could no longer be delayed. Several Consolidated Schools, j Works proposed or already in hand ; in Northland are as follows: —Wark- ' worth, new building for high school j on new site; Wellsford, extensive adi ditions for consolidated school; Waipu, ! new building for consolidated school; j Whau Valley, now building for infant j department; Kamo, new building to j house consolidated school; Ngunguru, | replacement of school building; KaiI kohe, new building for infant depart- | ment; Kawakawa. new building and i dental clinic on new site; Dargaville, | completion of building now housing | high school to accommodate proposed j intermediate department, also replace- , ment of primary department; Ruawai, | additions to secondary departments. 1 A now native school will bo built lat Te Kao and new teacher’s resi- | dence at Kerikeri. A new dental clinic is to built at j Kawakawa.
