Sea-Horse At Ahipara
An unusual find on the Ninety-Mile Beach during the week-end was a sea-horse. This is a species of fish related to the pipe fishes. It has a bony exterior with -a quadrangular body flattened from the sides. The large head ends in a snout with a small mouth at the extremity. The fore half of the body is twice the depth of the hindmost half and this, in conjunction with the bending of the neck and produces a curious resemblance to the head and nock of a horse.
