N.Z. Not Dependent On State Control
“Labour says the State should own all the land and control all the work, but New Zealand would not be the New Zealand it is today if it had been developed under .State ownership,” declared the Loader of the Opposition. Hon. Adam Hamilton, when addressing a Whangarei audience in the Town Hall on Saturday night. "It is by tlie individual attention of owners to their farms and businesses that results have been achieved." Mr Hamilton added that one of the hopes of New Zealand was to get more people to take up small areas of land. There were large numbers of the present unemployed who could bo so settled and could thus secure a dc ceil 1 living. "It would be better to expend money in that direction than on wages of the Public Works of today,” he added.
