Mr and Mrs H. Hartley, oi Taranaki, while touring the North, visited Onerahi for a few days and were the guests of Mr and Mrs A. Larcombe. Mrs Orchiston and her two sons. Messrs G. and H. Orchiston. have returned from a three weeks’ holiday in Auckland. Rotorua and Whakatane. Mr Les Lyons took over the duties at the post office during Mrs Orchiston’s aosence. Messrs J. de Stigter and H. Orchistfcn left on Monday for Auckland to resume their studies at the University. There was quite a large attendance at the fortnightly 500 evening held in the school on Thursday last. Several exciting games resulted in the ladies prize going to Mrs B. Stewart, while Mr H. Stewart won the men's prize. School Function. An extremely well-organised and enjoyable function was held at the school oi\ Friday afternoon. It was an entertainment given solely by the children, and was received by a large and well-pleased audience. A small charge was made, resulting in a total collection of £3 2/6, which was later forwarded to the Tikipunga Orphanage Fund. The following items were rendered: Recitations, Sue Dyer, "The Cat s Tea Party;” John Slade, "Then;” Geoffrey Church, "The King’s Breakfast:" Yvonne Mcßeath, "The Swan;” Helen Mcllvride, "The Camel's Hump;” Rose Cowan, "The Elf and the Dormouse;” Irene Bartlett. "Granny;” Len Bartlett. "Sea Fever;” Ted' Dyer, "Spanish Waters;" Betty Rowlands, "Spoiled; Rosaleen Ballagh. "Five Eyes:’’ choral speaking, "Bed' Time," by the senior girls. "The Ballad of Dick Turpin” was given by five senior boys. Keith McLeod, Jack Riddle, John Cartwright, Leigh Scott and Ken Langdon. "The Woodpecker’s Breakfast" was a recitation by Len Bartlett. Robert Weller and Dick Mcllvride. A playctic. "Ten Little Nigger Boys," was given by the juniors, who also rendered several songs. The musical items were violin solos by John Cartwright; pianoforte solos by Bernice Bartlett; and banjo mandolin solos by Alan Whitelaw. A solo was sung by Robert Weller, "Come O Maidens;" while there were two duets—" The Wigwam Song." by Sue Dyer and Robert Weller; and a Maori duet by Nila Taylor and Helen Mcllvride. Several group sengs wore sung by both seniors and juniors, and the senior girls took part in two folk dances.
