Austrian Loans Repudiation

" 'l, RUGBY, June 11. < A communique issued after two meetings of the committee set up by the guarantor States for Austrian loans slated that the committee, which represented the. Governments of Belgium, United Kingdom, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland, has considered the attitude of the German Government in regal'd to the loan. ■» The committee had before it the protests made by the trustees of those loans on the failure of the German Government to pay the instalments due on Junel; also a letter from the German Government stating that it was under no legal obligation to take over the external debt of the former Austrian Government. It was decided by the committee to protest to the German Government, and the hope was expressed that the latter would reconsider its decision. The committee also discussed with trustees’ representatives arrangements by which the Governments represent- 1 , ed will implement their guarantee in the event of continued German Default.
