Nationalists Favour Compulsory Universal Superannuation

Adam Hamilton, when touching on the Government health insurance and superi animation proposals in the course of ; his Whangarei address on Saturday ’ night.

Mr Hamilton said that under such a scheme it was imperative that contributors should gain the full benefit from what they had paid in. “The proposals of the Government, however, are not for superannuation, but for pensions," doclai'ed the speaker. “Superannuation means that all contributors have some right to say when they shall receive their payments. As far as wo know, however, the present proposals do not include any provision that contributors can gain the superannuation at a stated period, as is the right of evei’y contributor to a recognised scheme of that nature.

Dominion Hospital System. “I think the Labour Government is ; finding the benefit of the New Zealand hospital system in formulating its health insurance plans." said Mr Hamilton when dealing with this subI .wet. “MrejNash says that New Zealand lags behind the rest of the world in health insurance. He forgot to mention that it leads the world in its hospital system, and this may be an easy way by which the health insurance I proposals can be carried into effect.”

Superannuation Advisable. | In answer to a question. Mr Hamilj ton said that he considered it advisI able that a compulsory superannuation scheme should be established for the benefit of those not already covered in this manner, but that it would |be unreasonable to expect those already contributing to a scheme to ibe forced to also contribute to the { new proposal.
