Sports Council Meets On May 24

The first meeting of' the National Council appointed under the Physical Welfare and Recreation ’Act will be held at Parliament House on May 24, the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, said yesterday. One of its first undertakings would be a thorough survey of the existing facilities for sports and recreation, and future requirements. The Minister said he felt that, with the spirit and keenness permeating the council’s personnel, there would not be a delay in reaching that stage of their duties. The Technical School Teachers’ Conference yesterday carried a remit approving of the Government’s proposals for the improvement of physical education, and expressing the wish to submit recommendations for better physical training provisions in secondary and technical schools.
