CAR-PARKING AT HOSPITAL

Owing to the extensive building operations now in progress at the Whangarei District Hospital, it is possible that the yard at the top of Hospital Road will be closed for motor traffic. At last night’s meeting of the Whangarei Hospital Board the secretary of the board, by direction of the chairman, drew attention to the position and stated that it would be a great convenience to the visiting public if ■ • the council would authorise some slight expenditure in the preparation of a parking space, preferably in Hospital Road, near the side, entrance. * The matter was referred to a committee comprising the Mayor and Crs. R. S. Finch and E. G. W. Tibbits * ' for a report. Cr. Finch said that the hospital board had made no offer to help the council in the provision of space. The Mayor: They should stand in with us. It is no fault of ours that the road is up. Parking for 50 or 60 cars will be wanted, and we should see if the hospital board will meet us.
