Dutch Army Is To Be Enlarged
(Received 10 a.m.)< \ LONDON, March 27. The Dutch Government has decreed the enlargement of the Army by 25 battalions, or 7000 men,; says the Amsterdam correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph.” The new battalions are intended to reinforce the eastern frontier, which will be permanently manned by 70,000 men, equipped with anti-tank guns and anti-aircraft batteries to withstand a first attack, enabling the mobilisation of the entire Army. The frontier is also guarded by 42 forts built in 1936.. The enlargement of the Army is regarded as the fulfilment of a moral obligation to be prepared for all emergencies.
