An export secretarial is to bo appointed by the Government to assist the Parliamentary Select Committee to examine the Government’s proposals for national superannuation and health insurance services. Information regarding the operation of similar schemes in other parts of the world will be analysed and phases thtil have some application to New Zealand conditions will be prepared by the secretariat for the guidance of the committee. The Prime Minister. Mr, Savage, stated tliis evening that several appointments have already been made to the secretariat. Mr. G. H. Maddex, the British Government acturial expert. who was on loan to the New Zealand Government, would bo a mcnVoer and the assistant-secretary to the Treasury. Mr. B. C. Ashwin and Mr. J. S. Reid, of the staff of the Minister of Finance, had also been appointed. The Health Department, would probably be represented by the Director-General of Health, Dr. M. H. Watt, the secretary of the department, Mr. A. V. Keisenberg, and Mr. C. E. Wynne.
