Fast work at Takanini this morning was carried out on the inside grass, the flags being 10 feet out. Tine going was excellent, but there was not a gieat deal doing, though Roung Up and Valamito were responsible for good efforts.
Inver was under restraint throughout six furlongs, which took 1.181-5. This horse will not fulfill his engagements at Trentham. Hot Box was several lengths clear of Arvakur at the end of half a mile, which occupied 512-ssecs. Round up and Valamjio. after taking 37secs lor their fust three furlongs, completed six in 1.16 3-5.
Round Up, who had an advantage in the weights, impressed most. Both these horses, and also Arvakur, are to leave for Trentham today. Pamela beat Red Ledger over five furlongs in 1.5 2-5, and Parquet 'and Ivy Willonyx completed six in 1.20. Poker Dice did useful work over a round, sprinting his last three furlongs in 39 3-sseos. Palustre hit out resolutely over half a mile, which occupied 49 4-ssecs. Royevrus and Pocket Venus reeled off three furtongs in 37secs, and Lapidarian impressed more than, 'a British King gelding over the same' distance in 40 seconds.
The Surveyor gelding, Saccone ha joined E. Pope’s loam.
