CYCLONIC STORM AT AUCKLAND

Almost without warning, heavy rain, accompanied by a strong northerly wind, swept Auckland on Saturday afternoon. From 4 o’clock, the storm continued almost throughout the night Few people were prepared for the downpour, which resulted from a change in the direction of the high wind at about 4 p.m. All form of sport were suspended when the deluge arrived, although the North Shore games were continued until after 5 o’clock.
